We need to be talking about the BLM riots instead of January 6th

“Osama Bin Laden never took over the Capitol.” Those are the words of Paul Rieckhoff, a regular guest on MSNBC speaking of January 6th. The last time I checked, Bin Laden was responsible for nearly 3,000 deaths on 9/11. Democrats and the media are trying to get Americans to believe that the “insurrection” at the Capitol on January 6th was worse than 9/11. Chuck Schumer says it will “go down as one of the darkest days in recent American history.” that will “forever live in infamy”.

Let’s be real, January 6th was nowhere near the level of terror Democrats and the media are making it out to be. Yes, it was bad and we need answers but this is just another stunt to make Donald Trump look bad. President Trump clearly said to march “peacefully and patriotically” to the Capitol to protest the certifying of the 2020 election, which had major irregularities (more on that another day).

I really want to get into those “fiery but mostly peaceful protests” that happened last summer.

Damage done

According to Capitol Architect J. Brett Blandon, the cost of damage at the Capitol on Jan 6th was $30 million. Now that is a lot of money, but it is FAR less than the $1-2 billion in damage caused by the BLM riots of 2020. That is insured property damage.

The riots of 2020 as of right now are the most expensive in U.S. history which at the high end cost 66 times more than the damage done at the Capitol. The riots last year spanned across 20 states and 2,000 cities and led to 25 deaths.

David Dorn

Let’s take a moment to honor Officer David Dorn, a retired police officer who was 77 years old. David Dorn was killed June 2, 2020 in St. Louis by 25 year old Stephan Cannon at about 2:30am as he was responding to an alarm at his friend’s pawn shop. Dorn was not an on duty officer, he was acting as a citizen and a friend.

The death of this brave man was livestreamed and I actually saw the video myself. I will never forget the suffering I saw as he gasped for breath. He is survived by his wife Ann Dorn, 5 children and 10 grandchildren.

Why was David Dorn’s life not important to BLM or the Democrats? Where is the outrage that this brave man was killed by another black man who was robbing a pawn shop? Maybe it is because he was a police officer. Or it could be because the left does not seem to focus on black on black crimes the way they do when a black man dies at the hand of a white cop.

We need to shed light on this passing. I would have loved to see his name on the back of an NBA jersey. David Dorn needs to be in all of or memories because it is people like him who are the real heroes in our communities.

Control the narrative

We need to stop letting Democrats control the narrative. Stop letting them lie to the American people by acting like January 6th was the worst day in American history when we had $1-2 billion in damage across our cities last summer, when innocent men like David Dorn were killed, when people lost their dreams and life’s work at the hands of looters and rioters. A a recent Rasmussen survey showed that 66% of Americans in the poll, want an investigation into the BLM riots and not Jan. 6 with over 60% in every racial group agreeing.

In another poll, the blame for Donald Trump for the Capitol riots was down to 56% from 61% in June. Support for the investigation is down dramatically at 53% from 66% in June. This comes as the bogus hearings are taking place for the January 6th incident, which Pelosi picked players from her team and the opposing team for the House committee.

I will continue to shed light on these issues and let the truth be known.
