Is crime on the rise?

Is crime on the rise?

I think most Americans, well citizens of the entire world want to feel safe. People don’t want to go outside for a walk, to the grocery store or go to work and not feel safe. I don’t care what party you subscribe to, if you are not a member of Antifa or taking part in BLM riots and burning down buildings, you want to feel safe no matter where you live.

There has been a recent surge in crime across the country, particularly in major cities which are run by Democrats. Many of them have been under Democratic rule for decades. This is the final article of the 3 major issues plaguing the Biden administration, inflation, immigration and crime.

So what are the numbers? I will give a summary of America’s largest city and provide a link at the bottom that gives a full scope of what is going on in many liberal cities.

New York City

New York City has been run by failed Democrat Mayor Bill de Blasio since Jan 1, 2014 and has done a terrible job managing crime in what was once America’s safest big city.

Crime was up 22% overall from May 2020 to May 2021. The city saw a 20.5% increase in felony assault, shooting incidents up a whopping 73%, 46.7% increase in robbery and 35.6% in grand larceny. Murders remained the same with 37 and burglaries were down 21.8%. I didn’t make these numbers up, this is straight from the NYPD. I actcually look at something called facts and data.

What caused all of this? We know it was because of Republicans not taking the vaccine and climate change. Okay, let’s not be ridiculous. Democrat policies are what have led to a surge in crime. On Jan.1 2020 a new law took effect which was signed by Democrat governor Andrew Cuomo which eliminated cash bail for many crimes such as:

  • Assault in the third degree
  • Aggravated vehicular assault
  • Aggravated assault upon a person less than eleven years old
  • Criminally negligent homicide
  • Aggravated vehicular homicide
  • Manslaughter in the second degree
  • Unlawful imprisonment in the first degree
  • Coercion in the first degree
  • Arson in the third and fourth degree
  • Grand larceny in the first degree
  • Criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds or criminal possession of a firearm
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the first and second degree
  • Criminal sale of a controlled substance in the first and second degree
  • Criminal sale of a controlled substance in or near school grounds
  • Specified felony drug offenses involving the use of children, including the use of a child to commit a controlled substance offense and criminal sale of a controlled substance to a child
  • Criminal solicitation in the first degree and criminal facilitation in the first degree
  • Money laundering in support of terrorism in the third and fourth degree
  • Making a terroristic threat
  • Patronizing a person for prostitution in a school zone
  • Promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child
  • Possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child
  • Promoting a sexual performance by a child
  • Failure to register as a sex offender
  • Obstructing governmental administration in the first and second degree
  • Obstructing governmental administration by means of a self-defense spray device
  • Bribery in the first degree
  • Bribe giving for public office
  • Bribe receiving in the first degree
  • Promoting prison contraband in the first and second degree
  • Resisting arrest
  • Hindering prosecution
  • Tampering with a juror and tampering with physical evidence
  • Aggravated harassment in the first degree
  • Directing a laser at an aircraft in the first degree
  • Criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree
  • Criminal sale of a firearm to a minor
  • Enterprise corruption and money laundering in the first degree
  • Aggravated cruelty to animals, overdriving, torturing and injuring animals
  • Failure to provide proper sustenance
  • Animal fighting

Yes, you read that correctly. In NYC you can make threats to blow up a building, lauder money for a terrorist organization, sell drugs on a school grounds, point a laser at an aircraft and be let out of jail with no bond! On top of Mayor Bill de Blasio is also offering gifts to those released from jail as an incentive to show up for court. Some of the gifts include Mets tickets, movie tickets, a burner cell phone, gift cards to McDonald’s, Target and Dunkin’ Donuts.

This all sounds great, you can pick out a crime to commit which you won’t be held for and get out, get a cup of coffee and some donuts paid for by the tax payers of NYC. Maybe even see a movie later.

Not to mention, New York City slashed $1 billion from a $6 billion police budget in 2020. Well now they are reversing on that decision. Mayor de Blasio has decided to have a higher police presence on Time Square to crack down on the crime as well as approving $105 million for a new police precinct in Queens.

Other US cities

Democrat run Portland has seen an 800% increase in homicides after slashing the police budget by $16 million in 2020. Democrat Mayor Tim Wheeler has since called for an additional $2 million in funding for the police. The money would go towards hiring 5 detectives and form a uniformed patrol team to focus on gun violence.

Democrat controlled Atlanta has seen a 60% increase in homicides and 40% increase in shootings as of June 2021, compared to the same time last year. Buckhead, an upper class section of the Atlanta is looking to become its own city due to the lack of leadership by Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. Buckhead has seen a 164% increase in shootings this year. If Buckhead separates itself, it will be a city of 90,000 residents and will have control over infrastructure and crime. Let’s hope this happens for the sake of the residents in Buckhead.

Now to be fair, Republican led Fort Worth, Texas has seen a spike in crime this year. But you can bet they are not defunding anything. The Fort Worth Police Department launched Fort Worth Safe, a program which addresses violent crime. Since May 10 the city has arrested 116 people and confiscated 64 weapons.

I will close this article out with a link for more statistics on the rising crime we are seeing across the country, a problem that must be addressed by every mayor and city council member in every city whether there is a spike or not. It is very possible that we see a red wave in the 2022 midterms as people look for a solution because clearly Democrats are not the answer.
