Biden approval drop and nightmare polling for Democrats

Another week and another drop in the Biden approval rating and more polling shows doom for the Democrats in next year’s midterms. This comes as many Americans are very unhappy in the direction the country is headed.

71% overall in a recent NBC poll say the country is headed in the wrong direction. That includes 93% of Republicans, 70% of Independents and nearly half of Democrats, 48%.

Dick Morris also reported that new polling data shows that if the election were held today, Republicans are ahead 51%-41%. Just the week before, he reported that Republicans held a 7-point advantage. That is the largest lead seen in the ABC/Post poll since 1981.

Even more interesting, a different after that poll by Rasmussen showed Republicans with a 13-point lead, 51-38%.

As he has stated before, there is no telling what this means in terms of how many seats Republicans can gain because a lead of this size hasn’t been seen. There are estimates of 40-70 seats in the House will be gained by the GOP. It is very likely we could see something similar to 2010, when Republicans won 63 seats in the House and 6 seats in the Senate.

It’s really anybody’s guess. If I had to pick a number, I’d go with a 50-52 seat gain in the House and maybe 3 seats in the Senate, which is great. But that is just me not setting the bar too high, again it’s anybody’s guess and it could be much higher.

Now on the Biden approval:

The last time I gave an update on his approval rating, it was 42.4% on Real Clear Politics. Well, now that number has dropped to 41.2% with a 53.3% disapproval. That approval number is going to hit the 30’s very soon at this rate and I wouldn’t put high 20’s out of the realm of possibilities. Maybe I’m being too optimistic but only time will tell.

FiveThirtyEight Joe is at a 42.5% approval rating and 51.6% disapproval.

Now on to Civiqs which I didn’t include in the last update. He has dropped to a dismal 36% approval rating among 127,000 respondents online. That number includes just 24% of Independents who approve. 75% of Democrats give Biden a thumbs up, which is down from 90% at the beginning of his presidency.

A new Quinnipiac poll came out and shows Biden has dropped to 36% approval.

By party:

  • Republicans – 94% disapprove, 4% approve.
  • Democrats – 87% approve, 7% disapprove.
  • Independents – 56% disapprove, 29% approve.

Biden is failing on the issues as well:

  • Economy – 59% disapprove, 34% approve.
  • Foreign policy – 55% disapprove, 33% approve.
  • Coronavirus – 50% disapprove, 45% approve.
  • Climate change – 48% disapprove, 41% approve.

The most recent Gallup poll has Biden at 42%, down from 57% back in Jan, which is a 15% slide in just 10 months.

In a new Washington Post/ABC poll, Biden’s approval rating is 41% and has a 53% disapproval. 70% say the economy is in bad shape and only 39% saying Biden is doing a good job on that front.

To say the least, the midterms are going to be very interesting and a red wave is very likely, especially after what we saw in Virginia.
